In Fall 2020, I moved to Memphis and this city truly has so much to offer. One of the highlights of my time here will definitely be a press “trip” to my own city, hosted by AirBnb Gurus, Pettigrew Adventures! I was so honored to be a part of this trip. I got to spend a week with bloggers from all over the country, and had the opportunity to view Memphis from a brand new perspective.

When I checked into the Airbnb, there were so many surprises waiting for me! So many gifts from local vendors, including the most adorable “Memphis” sweatshirt that made many appearances throughout the weekend. I also had a bunk bed all to myself, and the kitchen was tricked out with all the best snacks. Peep the root beer! Pettigrew Adventures went the extra mile to make sure the Airbnbs were stocked with our favorite snacks and drinks.

Elvis’s Graceland
Memphis is a city rich in history, art, and entertainment. Elvis Presley is a true Memphis icon, and it was such a treat to get a private tour of Graceland. From the unique decor style, to the story of Elvis’s rise to fame- it’s a must-see experience for anyone with an interest in music, history, decor and beyond!

Shop the look
Murals around Memphis
If you’re visiting Memphis, keep an eye out for some great murals! Several spots around town, including the Cooper Young district and South Main Arts District boast murals at almost every corner. FYI our trip was in February, right after a record-breaking snow storm, which is why you’ll see snow in just about every shot!

Buff City Soap
Buff City Soap has opened soap makeries around the country, but did you know the first location was right outside of Memphis? Known for their incredible scents, clean ingredients, and cult-favorite products, Buff City is a brand that Memphians know and love.

During our trip, we learned how to make bath bombs (easier said than done!) and were treated to some of Buff City’s best-sellers- like laundry detergent and bar soaps.

Beale Street
Beale Street is one of those must-see tourist attractions in Memphis. Known for its bright lights and blues music pouring out of clubs and restaurants lined up one after the other- it’s the pinnacle of nightlife in the mid-south. If Blues isn’t quite your thing, you can still find tons of spots to grab a bite, shop for souvenirs, and people watch around Beale Street.

Lantana Lip Lab
If you love to get creative with makeup, you need to visit Lantana Lip Lab! Here, you can mix colors to create your own custom lipstick or gloss. It was such a fun and unique experience, and I especially enjoyed adding sparkle and scents to my lipstick. I recommend this activity for bachelorettes, girls trips, or a fun weekend with friends. I loved getting to take home my custom lip color which I named “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”

Afternoon Tea at the Peabody
The Peabody Hotel is another Memphis icon, with its famous Peadbody ducks that have captivated travelers for years. At the Peabody, we were treated to a delectable afternoon tea, one of my favorite memories from my time living in Memphis. The tea room evokes old Hollywood glamor, reminiscent of presidents and celebrities who stayed there. The rooftop is usually open to visitors as well, which is a great place to snap a photo!

We were visited by the Peabody Duckmaster, a title that’s considered extremely prestigious around the hotel. Each morning, the Duckmaster marches the ducks from their rooftop “palace” to the hotel lobby fountain, where they stay for the day. And each evening, the Duckmaster leads the ducks back onto the elevator and up to their palace for the night. A longstanding tradition, the duck march occurs each day without fail, and duck imagery can be found all over the hotel.

Private Party at Annesdale Mansion
The Pettigrew Adventures team was kind to throw us a private soirée on one of the last nights of the trip. Several local event vendors took part, providing floral arrangements, menus, food, dessert, music, and more.
The party was hosted at Annesdale Mansion, a historic house with beautifully preserved decor throughout- the perfect venue for a wedding! This was truly such a fun event and a night I will not forget.

Where to Eat in Memphis
When it comes to dining out, you’ll find no shortage of options in Memphis. During the trip we were treated to some of Memphis’s most popular spots- from brunch spots, to food trucks, to fine dining.

Staks Pancake Kitchen
My husband and I are longtime fans of Staks, so getting to experience this local favorite was an extra special treat. Those bright blue walls make the perfect backdrop for a Mimosa or seasonal coffee drink!
We ordered a sampling of pancakes, including my personal favorite- the strawberry shortcake pancake. They also have a huge selection of breakfast and lunch items, as well as a rotating seasonal specials, like the red velvet pancake for Valentines Day.

Hen House Wine Bar
One of the most exciting experiences from the trip was having a private meal at the Bubble Room inside Hen House Wine Bar. The vibe and the food were all top-notch, making this the perfect space for a girls night.

We enjoyed charcuterie, wine, and three courses of delicious food. If you’re ever in town with friends or planning an event, I highly recommend reserving the Bubble Room for the full Hen House experience!

Local Memphis Vendors
The Press Trip introduced us to so many local Memphis shops and vendors. We shopped truck shows from Mimi Morton, Southern Ave Company, and a private popup at Shop Selby Jewel.

We were treated to private food service from El Mero Tacos, JoJo’s Espresso, Cheese Please Co. and more! Andrea LeTard from Andrea’s Cooktales taught a cocktail making class during our welcome night, and it was such a fun and unique experience!

A special thanks to Pettigrew Adventures for putting together such an amazing trip for us girls. I highly recommend checking out their selection of AirBnb rentals if you are ever in town!
